Using Drawer Insert Designer
First thing's first, measure the interior of your drawer. You'll want to note the height, depth, and width, starting from the narrowest point and factoring in curves, angles, and any existing hardware the drawer contains. Once you've taken your measurements, you can choose to either begin with an existing template and modify it or start with a blank model.Â
When setting the dimensions of your insert, subtract â…›'' from the width and depth of your drawer's inside measurement. Height should be a minimum of 1/2'' smaller than the height of your drawer.
If you don't want to design your insert from scratch, you can choose a template and change the size to fit your needs. You can also add, remove, and modify dividers and components. Options include:
- 8 Different Kitchen Cutlery / Utensil organizers
- 2 Spice Rack Organizers
- Knife Storage
You'll now see a model representing your drawer insert — either an empty box or the template you've chosen. You can click and drag with your mouse, scroll to zoom out, or use the navigation pane to the right to view the insert from multiple angles. You can see the individual components of your drawer insert with the Explode tool, and also between a top-down and three-dimensional view.
You have a few different options when it comes to materials. For the organizer itself, you can choose between maple, walnut, and cedar. If your insert has a bottom, you can also customize the material used for that, choosing between felt, anti-slip, or wood.
To add components to your drawer organizer, all you need to do is click on the component in the left-hand toolbar, then click on the model of your drawer. You can choose between full and partial vertical and horizontal dividers as well as special components like knife blocks and spice racks.Â
Dividers can be repositioned by clicking and dragging or through the Space Evenly design tool. You can also add or remove cutouts and delete dividers through the same steps. If at any point you want to start your design over from scratch, click on "Delete All."
Once you are happy with your design you can add the insert to the cart. You can then check out or start a new one. Add in your contact and payment information and finalize the order.
